The Food Drive
We drive food security in our community.
The Food Drive is a community-driven hunger relief and food rescue nonprofit organization based in Melrose, Massachusetts, serving cities and towns north of Boston. Formed in 2020 during the pandemic and fueled by over 150 volunteers, our mission is to feed our neighbors.
One in three residents of Massachusetts are currently facing empty plates. The Food Drive fills plates in our community seven days a week year-round by distributing rescued, surplus, and donated food — delivering directly from the point of donation to the point of need — all within a hyperlocal ten-mile radius. Our primary service is supplying free food to local pantries, shelters, and low income housing residences. We also provide direct service through our weekly Community Freezer program, offering free “heat & eat” frozen meals to all who need them.
At The Food Drive, we believe that the best way to end hunger is to take care of each other.
